Spring is just around the corner and you know what that means, everyone in your circle will be going on and on, boasting about their spring-cleaning victories.
Let’s face it, spring cleaning sucks. It feels like a bit of a trap. You’re coaxed into it with reminders of how good it felt when you finished the last time; motivated, and ready to get after it. And then about an hour in, when your house is torn apart and the maybe, maybe-not, definitely-no, hell-yes, only-if-there’s-space piles start to morph into one giant pile in the middle of your bedroom floor. Are the flashbacks coming back to you yet? Same.
We don’t have all the answers, Marie Kondo is the only other person who can go through your things and know exactly what to toss away, but we have some suggestions that may make the process * slightly * less miserable.
This may be the year you decide it’s finally time to go through your basement storage, garage, or messy closet. Chances are that if you choose to do this, you’re going to toss a lot of stuff you no longer need (frankly, you probably never needed it). Instead of loading up your vehicle and making multiple trips to the dump, hire someone to come and do it for you. You’d be surprised at the number of people that finish the organizing and cleaning part, and then let the junk sit around in garbage bags and boxes for weeks because you’re “just too busy to get to it.” Don’t be that person - just hire someone to do the heavy lifting.
This is an exciting two-in-one tip - organization and home improvement! It might be worth it to splurge a little bit and explore opting for built-ins. Whether it be in your closet, or some shelving to frame the tv in your living room, built-ins make it a lot easier to find what you’re looking for and serve as a visual reminder to keep your space tidy and not overly cluttered. These don’t need to be fancy, you can even just browse Ikea’s website. Yes, we know, assembling anything from Ikea is a hassle, so post the project on Bidmii and get someone to do it for you.
Vacate the house for one full day and hire someone to seriously deep clean your home. We’re talking carpets, oven, drains, EVERY square inch of that home. And hey, deep cleans have been known to also serve as a mental reset, so why not welcome the nicer weather with a fresh perspective?
Some things are best left to the professionals. Landscapers, they know what they’re doing. Have you ever looked outside once the snow has melted to see a brown, damp, sad-looking lawn? Of course, some of that is just a matter of patience, but you may also need to call in the big guns. Preparatory measures will make the rest of your summer’s yard maintenance a breeze.
Truly, Bidmii can help with any one of these projects. We’re nearing 3000 contractors across the country all eager to help you #getitdone. But, we recommend getting to it sooner rather than later. Spring is the busy season for contractors. Plan ahead.
